February SASSSC Meeting

First a couple items of business...meeting minutes, if you will...

We are switching the Club Party from March to April. We are also changing the date of the party in April. Next month we will do the assignments that we would have done in April. We are keeping the swaps the same.

At our March meeting, please bring 1 stamp with your name on it somewhere. We will swap stamps and get our next month's inspiration from the stamp we pull out of the hat.

In April, please bring a $10 wrapped gift for our party, we will have a gift swap...similar to an ornament exchange where one person opens and the next person can open a new one or steal someone elses. It should be LOADS OF FUN!

Please note that the SASSSC site is up to date. So if you have any questions about dates or assignments, please use our site as reference. If you have any questions after that, please email myself and/or Delia.

Lastly, I got an extra card from Olga this month...so if anyone has an extra of something or is missing something, let me know, we'll get it all straighted out next month.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way...let's talk about what we did and how much fun it was!

We had great food and great company as always...Delia was missing (from her own house again) and Olga was at home...or out of town...or both. Hee hee.

Here's some pictures of the great food

This month Margie won our door prize this month. She got some letter stamps. I didn't get a good picture of her...she was hiding behind her prize.

I (Annie) was in charge of the make 'n take this month. We made some simple Easter Baskets. I was going to type up some instructions...but Laura has done a really good job already of taking pictures of the steps. Please see her blog for instructions. Thanks Laura!!! I love the bunny and flower you used to cover the sides of the basket!

Then after I did the make 'n take, Mary showed us a good tip for the month using the cuttlebug. Delia was the one that came up with the idea for the make 'n take...Mary was just her substitute for the day...showing us how to do it. This is a demo to show selective embossing. You can emboss a shape or emboss a frame with negative space in the middle.

Mary did a good job demonstrating. She also had a little help from Vegas....who broke the handle?!?! WHAAAT!?!?!

SASSSC Meeting Reminder

Just a reminder...our SASSSC Meeting for February is coming up the weekend after this one. It will be on the 21st this month. Check your assignments on the blog if you are unsure of what to bring. Everything is current.

We'll talk then about March's meeting date. That is probably the best time to let everyone know whether our March meeting will change or not. I got alot of input to move it to the weekend after...which would be the 28th. We'll get final consensus at our meeting coming up soon.

I (Annie) will be doing the make 'n take. All you need this time is your Mono....we will be making some little Easter Baskets. Dont forget to bring your swaps for meeting too...

See you all soon!

~Annie

SASSSC Spotlight - All About Annie!

Name: Annie H.

My favorite dessert is Apple Cobbler at Zio's. The kind with the sauce all over the top...served a la mode. YUMM!!!

I live in Conroe with my Husband (Tommy), his daughter Melanie and our two dogs Buddy (Boxer) and Max (Yellow Lab). I was born in Kansas City, Missouri and moved here when I was 12 years old. I've been a Houstonian ever since. I have 3 brother and 2 sisters and 1 step sister. I have 13 neices and nephews on my family's side and 5 more on Tommy's side. I'm also lucky enough to have all my parents and all my grandparents alive and well. They all live far...and I don't get to see them enough. :(

I don't remember who introduced me to stamping initially...I was a demonstrator for a year back in 1996. However, Delia is the one that got me back into stamping. I met Delia in college in 2002-ish and started going to stamp club with her in in 2007-ish. I am so glad she started showing me all her projects at school and convinced me to go. I LOVE IT!

Why do I like stamping? I love it becuase it allows me to be creative and when I am making a mass amount of the same cards for the holiday, it provides stress relief. It gives me some time to myself. I don't get much of that these days.

I love pinks and blues together with brown. I think its such a great combination.

My favorite occasion to stamp for are those holidays that not everyone stamps for...like Easter and Halloween.

I get alot of my ideas from Laura and Delia. I also follow a lot of stamping blogs lately. There are some really creative ladies out there...in SASSSC and other places. I get ideas from all your cards too.

My favorite technique, style and/or tool? I like using the water color pen...you can watercolor with any color of marker or stamp-pad with this cool tool! I also like using it with glittery water colors.

I heard about SASSSC from Delia as she was still trying to come up with how it would work.

What do I like to do when she isn't stamping? I like to cook and do things outdoors. I like 4 wheeling and fishing. I fish in lakes, streams or in the ocean. I also work for Halliburton as a Supply Chain Analyst. More specifically I work for International Sourcing at Halliburton. Our department works to save the company money by finding overseas vendors (near our clients) that can make the same part for cheaper than those manufacturer's here in the states.

An interesting fact about me...

Another hobby of mine is Lampworking. This is not the art of making lamps. :) This is the art of working with a torch and glass rods. I melt the glass at about 3000+ degrees and mold it around a metal rod. I decorate it with smaller pulled glass also to make designs. After the molten glass cools, I pull it off and have a pretty, glass home-made bead. I love making things with pinks and yellows. I'm working on a black and white bracelet right now...here a gallery showing things I'll be able to make when I get a little better at it. :)

See you soon for SASSSC Easter Style!
