I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters, I am the baby!!

How many children (step-children)?
Tell us a little about them. I have three wonderful step-daughters, Jennifer, Karen and Melissa. All three are happily married. Jennifer is a part-time hair dresser and works full-time for a gutter company. Karen lives in Fort Worth and works for a helicopter company. Melissa has two daughters, Maris and Myiah and is a Scentsy, Arbonne and Avon Consultant. I also have a very spoiled dachshund - Vegas who you all have met. She is my/our Baby!!

Who introduced you to stamping and how did they introduce it to you?
My sister Olga introduced me to stamping. She took me to a stamp convention (1995 or 1996) and I bought a bunny stamp some embossing powder and ink. By the way, that was the stamp that I used as my SASSSC Easter card earlier this year.

How long have you been stamping? I have been a serious stamper since 2004, I think!

Why do you like stamping?
I have always loved to draw and paint. I also love creating things that I can give away. It is an enjoyable past time.

What is your favorite color or color combination to use?
Red and black or hot pink and black

What's your Favorite occasion to stamp for?
Halloween

Where do you get ideas?
From magazines, books, blogs, stampin up (Laura) and SASSSC.

Do you have a favorite technique, style and/or tool?
I like to embossing, because it gives it a professional look.

How did you hear about SASSSC (or think about coming up with SASSSC)?
Laura and I attended a midnight stampers weekend retreat three years ago and we had so much fun. All the way back from the retreat we talked about starting up a club like the midnight stampers in the Houston area and or having a stamping weekend retreat. We even started naming our club.

What do you like to do when you aren't stamping?
I like to shop, watch movies and cook (when I have time to).

Tell us an interesting fact about you, that we may not know...
In high school, I was in Art class and I had painted some pictures. My paintings were entered into the Brazoria County Fair and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I have a picture with being awarded a ribbon for first place from Tom Delay and I had the Best in Show in Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

My husband and I love to go to Las Vegas. For my 21st birthday I went with my sisters and niece. I was able to take a picture with Redd Foxx at the casino, he was just walking by. Other Vegas adventures - David Cassidy kissed my hand, Wayne Newton kissed me, and last year my sisters and I met Donny and Marie Osmond.

How many brothers and sisters? 4 brothers and 4 sisters I'm the middle child

Any children? Tell us a little about them. None

Who introduced you to stamping and how did they introduce it to you? A friend from work gave me a stamp set for my birthday about 16 years ago and it took me a year before opening it. It was only after I attended a stamp convention that I was hooked, came home and opened the stamp set and got started and haven't stopped.

How long have you been stamping? 15 years

Why do you like stamping? Let's me be creative and try different things.

What is your favorite color or color combination to use? I like black and white

What's your Favorite occasion to stamp for? Christmas & Valentines.

Where do you get ideas? Sometimes they just pop in my head before falling asleep then I have to try and remember them the next day.

Do you have a favorite technique, style and/or tool? I like trying all kinds of stuff, love reading and learning new techniques, paints, etc.

How did you hear about SASSSC? My fellow MIdnight Stampers were an inspiration to Delia and Laura to start a group in Houston.

What do you like to do when you aren't stamping? Read. dance, & movies.

Tell us an interesting fact about you, that we may not know... I used to be a Customs Officer for 6 years and carried a gun to work everyday.

Where were you born: I was born in Edinburg Tx and raised in Chicago Ill.

How many brothers and sisters? 2 brothers and 3 sisters

How many children? Tell us a little about them. 2 chihuahuas….Rocky-tan (he has been with us 4 years, very obedient, loyal, happy, and very passive) Kuki-white (she has been with us 2 years and she is nuts, won’t listen to us, loves to lay out in the sun, lives at the vet’s office and is silly)

Who introduced you to stamping and how did they introduce it to you? I worked at PWC when I met Delia….need I say more, :). What is funny is that we also went to the same private elementary school in Chicago 1 year apart and we even lived in the same neighborhood.

How long have you been stamping? 1 year

Why do you like stamping? I like when I get into my creative zone and it just de-stresses me.

What is your favorite color or color combination to use? Pink and brown or black. I think it looks elegant with a touch of youthfulness (Lord knows I need all the help I can get) J

Do you have a favorite technique, style and/or tool? I love everything……Since I have only been doing this for 1 year I have not found anything that I don’t really like…

What do you like to do when you aren't stamping? Watching reality shows and novelas! I love love “So you think you can dance” “Americas got talent” “American Idol” and all the new series like “Lie to me” “Drop Dead Diva” and “Army Wives”. Ever since I started working at PWC (as I worked CRAZY LONG Hours) I would come home and just vegetate in front of the TV. Now I am just hooked to my TIVO!

Tell us an interesting fact about you, that we may not know...In my late thirties I started a list of things I wanted to do before I was 40. One of the things that I accomplished was running 2 marathons and an MS 150. I have renamed that list “Things I would like to accomplish before I am FIFTY”, I went to EUROPE this year and going to Puerto Rico in 2 weeks! I would also like to go see Barbara Streisand ( NYC) and Bette Midler (in Vegas) my two favorite actress! Too bad Elvis is dead…..(LOVE ME SOME ELVIS).

SASSSC Spotlight - All About Adriana

Favorite Dessert: Can't go very wrong with dessert, as far as I'm concerned, but I love chocolate and I love anything with strawberries!

You live where: I live in Magnolia, TX. We've been here for 9 1/2 years, when we moved from the Heights.

Where were you born: Houston, TX

How many brothers and sisters? 1 sister, Connie. Just took a 2-wk roadtrip with her. Had a blast. We haven't lived in the same city for the past 30 years, so it was fun getting to spend time together.

How many children? Tell us a little about them:
I have two daughters: Ally, age 9, is very crafty (will be a future SASSSC member I'm sure someday). Not at all into sports. Very sensitive...not always in a good way.

Hannah is 5 years old and is about to start kindergarten. She is my major drama queen, and loves to try to boss her older sister around. She loves to sing, but I really need to start voice lessons.

Who introduced you to stamping and how did they introduce it to you?
I can't believe that I cannot totally remember for sure. But I think that my friend Carolyn had a Stampin' Up party probably about 7 years ago. I hooked up with Jeannette Burson as my demonstrator, and when she retired, I was lucky enough to find Laura.

How long have you been stamping? About seven years

Why do you like stamping?
I love the socialization part of it...now even more that I'm a SASSSC girl! And I just love getting creative and crafty.

What is your favorite color or color combination to use?
I love just about anything with brown or black combination. I like vintagy looks better than modern/ecclectic looks.

What's your Favorite occasion to stamp for?
Just Because, because there is more possibilities for diversity.
Where do you get ideas? Mainly magazines....Card Creations, Scrapbooking Trends, Paper Crafts, etc.

Do you have a favorite technique, style and/or tool?
Lately I would have to say that I love making the flowers out of ribbon by using sewing.

How did you hear about SASSSC? Through Laura Leuenberger.

What do you like to do when you aren't stamping?
I'm actually a little bit of a scrapbooking fanatic. It is absolute therapy for me. I also, probably like everyone else, love to travel with my family.

Tell us an interesting fact about you, that we may not know...
I'm not sure I am interesting per say....but I'll give it a try.

1) My family is from Spain and Colombia. I spent many summers as a child in Colombia, but actually went to school for a year there when I was 10. Culturally it was very different from Catholic school here in the states.

2) I am highly clutzy and accident prone. Let's just say that I've broken 3 toes, along with my sternum.

3) My husband and I had a long distance relationship for 6 years prior to hooking up in the same city.

4) ...can't think of anything else.

SASSSC Spotlight - All About Laura

Name: Laura L.

My favorite desserts are Chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies.

I live in the Oak Ridge North subdivision, but my mailing address says Conroe.

I was born in Biloxi, Mississippi

I have one younger brother who lives in Tuscaloosa. He is married, with a son and daughter, she is also married. He has three grandkids.

I have three sons.
The oldest, Eric, is a petroleum engineer and lives in Dallas. He is always in a serious relationship, but cannot commit to the "M" word.

Bryan is the middle son. He just celebrated his 2nd wedding anniversary and has a 6 week old son named Jaxon. They live in Augusta Pines just outside of the Woodlands boundry.

My youngest son, Josh, is married and has three children: Trevor, Ryan and Ashlyn. They live in the DC area.

I started stamping with Jeanette B.(who I later signed up under with SU). I met her at a Pampered Chef party, but I can't remember whose party it was. I stamped with Jeannette for several years. I was hooked from the start and would share my cards and projects with the ladies in my supper club from church.

I finally decided to sign up with SU. I formed my first stamp club with my supper club friends. What you may or may not know is that Delia is my best customer. She brought me many new stampers who also joined my clubs. Some of you are reading this right now. I am so thankful to Delia for the help she has been in making my business grow. Delia hosted one of my first workshops and invited her sisters to attend.

I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for 5 years and was stamping before that for about 2 or 3 years.

Why do I like stamping? I have always loved crafting and making things myself. Before stamping, I did folk art and painted shirts. The demand for that kind of craft had about run out. When I discovered stamping, it gave my the creative outlet that met my crafting needs. Plus it was faster and easier than the painting. I could also share my cards alot easier than I could the painting.

What is your favorite color or color combination to use? That's a hard one. I have loved using the baja blue and chocolate chip combo from the Parisian Breeze designer paper. I also love using the earth elements colors. Old Olive is probably one of the colors I use the most, followed by Chocolate Chip.

What's your Favorite occasion to stamp for? I stamp every free minute I have. I love designing the cards for club and classes. I love making cards for swapping. I dont need a special occasion. I do enjoy making my own Christmas, Thank you and Birthday cards.

Where do you get ideas? I have a ton of stamping blogs I follow and of course I look at Splitcoast Stampers.

Do you have a favorite technique, style and/or tool? I lke to use the piercing tool, border punches, distressing tool, and ribbon on my cards.

How did you hear about SASSSC? Olga had invited me to come to the Midnight Stampers retreat with Delia 2 years ago in Dallas. Riding back with Delia afterwards, all we could talk about was starting our own group of stampers. We had alot of fun dreaming up names for the group and wondering where we could hold our own retreat. Now here we are with a great goup of stampers having a ball!

What do you like to do when you aren't stamping? Reading, Blogging, watching my favorite tv shows (which I do while I am stamping) and visiting the grandkids.

Tell us an interesting fact about you, that we may not know...
I grew up as an Air Force Brat. I have lived in Arkansas, Mississippi, Memphis, Massachusettes, and England. I was always VERY shy. I met my husband, Ernie, in high school band (I played the baritone horn) and dated him 6 years until we got married. In college, I majored in Home Economics Education, and later added the Kindergarten Endorsment so I could teach Kindergarten. I will retire in one more school year.

An interesting fact about Margie... On New Year's Eve she runs outside with a cow bell and rings it out loud to ring in the New Year. She carries a suitcase and a penny in her shoe to bring her travels and money throughout the new year.

SASSSC Spotlight - All About Annie!

Name: Annie H.

My favorite dessert is Apple Cobbler at Zio's. The kind with the sauce all over the top...served a la mode. YUMM!!!

I live in Conroe with my Husband (Tommy), his daughter Melanie and our two dogs Buddy (Boxer) and Max (Yellow Lab). I was born in Kansas City, Missouri and moved here when I was 12 years old. I've been a Houstonian ever since. I have 3 brother and 2 sisters and 1 step sister. I have 13 neices and nephews on my family's side and 5 more on Tommy's side. I'm also lucky enough to have all my parents and all my grandparents alive and well. They all live far...and I don't get to see them enough. :(

I don't remember who introduced me to stamping initially...I was a demonstrator for a year back in 1996. However, Delia is the one that got me back into stamping. I met Delia in college in 2002-ish and started going to stamp club with her in in 2007-ish. I am so glad she started showing me all her projects at school and convinced me to go. I LOVE IT!

Why do I like stamping? I love it becuase it allows me to be creative and when I am making a mass amount of the same cards for the holiday, it provides stress relief. It gives me some time to myself. I don't get much of that these days.

I love pinks and blues together with brown. I think its such a great combination.

My favorite occasion to stamp for are those holidays that not everyone stamps for...like Easter and Halloween.

I get alot of my ideas from Laura and Delia. I also follow a lot of stamping blogs lately. There are some really creative ladies out there...in SASSSC and other places. I get ideas from all your cards too.

My favorite technique, style and/or tool? I like using the water color pen...you can watercolor with any color of marker or stamp-pad with this cool tool! I also like using it with glittery water colors.

I heard about SASSSC from Delia as she was still trying to come up with how it would work.

What do I like to do when she isn't stamping? I like to cook and do things outdoors. I like 4 wheeling and fishing. I fish in lakes, streams or in the ocean. I also work for Halliburton as a Supply Chain Analyst. More specifically I work for International Sourcing at Halliburton. Our department works to save the company money by finding overseas vendors (near our clients) that can make the same part for cheaper than those manufacturer's here in the states.

An interesting fact about me...

Another hobby of mine is Lampworking. This is not the art of making lamps. :) This is the art of working with a torch and glass rods. I melt the glass at about 3000+ degrees and mold it around a metal rod. I decorate it with smaller pulled glass also to make designs. After the molten glass cools, I pull it off and have a pretty, glass home-made bead. I love making things with pinks and yellows. I'm working on a black and white bracelet right now...here a gallery showing things I'll be able to make when I get a little better at it. :)

Laura L. introduced her to stamping. She met Laura in a scrapbooking class at Lone Star Scrap.

She has been stamping since she met Laura in 2004.

Why does she like stamping? She made many scrapbooks prior to stamping. She likes the quick end to making cards.

What does she like to do when she isn't stamping? Working. She must love her job, I think that's great! She is a corporate travel agent. She can't plan our trips, but I'm sure she does a great job for people at work!

An interesting fact about her...she had gastric bypass surgery in 2002. She has been there and would have good advice for anyone considering such a surgery. She would do it different the second time if she could.
