SASSSC Spotlight - All About Annie!
My favorite dessert is Apple Cobbler at Zio's. The kind with the sauce all over the top...served a la mode. YUMM!!!
I live in Conroe with my Husband (Tommy), his daughter Melanie and our two dogs Buddy (Boxer) and Max (Yellow Lab). I was born in Kansas City, Missouri and moved here when I was 12 years old. I've been a Houstonian ever since. I have 3 brother and 2 sisters and 1 step sister. I have 13 neices and nephews on my family's side and 5 more on Tommy's side. I'm also lucky enough to have all my parents and all my grandparents alive and well. They all live far...and I don't get to see them enough. :(
I don't remember who introduced me to stamping initially...I was a demonstrator for a year back in 1996. However, Delia is the one that got me back into stamping. I met Delia in college in 2002-ish and started going to stamp club with her in in 2007-ish. I am so glad she started showing me all her projects at school and convinced me to go. I LOVE IT!
Why do I like stamping? I love it becuase it allows me to be creative and when I am making a mass amount of the same cards for the holiday, it provides stress relief. It gives me some time to myself. I don't get much of that these days.
I love pinks and blues together with brown. I think its such a great combination.
My favorite occasion to stamp for are those holidays that not everyone stamps for...like Easter and Halloween.
I get alot of my ideas from Laura and Delia. I also follow a lot of stamping blogs lately. There are some really creative ladies out there...in SASSSC and other places. I get ideas from all your cards too.
My favorite technique, style and/or tool? I like using the water color pen...you can watercolor with any color of marker or stamp-pad with this cool tool! I also like using it with glittery water colors.
I heard about SASSSC from Delia as she was still trying to come up with how it would work.
What do I like to do when she isn't stamping? I like to cook and do things outdoors. I like 4 wheeling and fishing. I fish in lakes, streams or in the ocean. I also work for Halliburton as a Supply Chain Analyst. More specifically I work for International Sourcing at Halliburton. Our department works to save the company money by finding overseas vendors (near our clients) that can make the same part for cheaper than those manufacturer's here in the states.
An interesting fact about me...
Another hobby of mine is Lampworking. This is not the art of making lamps. :) This is the art of working with a torch and glass rods. I melt the glass at about 3000+ degrees and mold it around a metal rod. I decorate it with smaller pulled glass also to make designs. After the molten glass cools, I pull it off and have a pretty, glass home-made bead. I love making things with pinks and yellows. I'm working on a black and white bracelet right now...here a gallery showing things I'll be able to make when I get a little better at it. :)
See you soon for SASSSC Easter Style!

January SASSSC Meeting
We all know why Olga doesn't attend...she's really far from us...but we definitely want her to know that she is missed each time and we love her contributions.
Also, a short note about Lynn. While she WAS able to make it...she wasn't feeling well this time either. We all hope she is feeling better by now.
Get well soon Adrianna and Lynn!
SASSSC started this time with our breakfast and lots of chit chatting. We all got to thinking about our SASSSC parties and about the one that was coming up fairly quickly. SO, we ended up splitting up in our SASSSC groups to decide on party details.

I could have sworn they sent Margie over to spy...but I can't prove it with a picture. Hmmm...
:)
After our party group meetings we got down to swappin'. Here's our pictures for the month.

Look at our long row of SASSSC boxes! How pretty!
Here's a SASSSC box filled with pretty swaps! There are so many swaps, I can't see them all. :)
After showing off all our cards and swapping them, it was time for our Make 'n Take.
This month Lynn did our Make 'n Take. We decorated some bottles and inside the bottles, we put project ideas on slips of paper.
I think all of us have had the experience where we know we want to make a card (or many cards) and we are unsure of what to do. We've learned so many new and good techniques from Laura at Club and we are also getting ideas from SASSSC now too...we often don't know where to start on deciding what we will do next.
Well, the slips of paper we put in our bottle list some ideas of techniques we can use on our next project. Everything from...distressing...to buttons...to "use the last thing you bought (ha)"...to brads. All are ideas we can use for inspiration or maybe even a challenge.
Great idea Lynn!
Here are some pictures of us making our bottles. Notice, Vegas didn't want to be left out. She sat with whomever would have her.
Here's pictures of all our bottles. :)

...then we had our demo/tip. Mary showed us how to make a colorful marble look for a background. She also showed us how beautiful it is with a silver paint marker around the edges for an accent.
Here's the instructions and pictures:
1. Put a couple drops of re-inkers in a small spray bottle (from Michael's) with some rubbing Alcohol. Do this with several colors.
2. Pull out your paper. You need to use paper that has a glossy (shiny) side. This technique will only work on the glossy side of your paper.
3. Now you have a choice. You can spray the paper and put Plastc Wrap on top to marble it (first picture) or you can spray the Plastic Wrap directly and then set it on top of the paper (second picture). Either method will create the same result. Pull the Plastic Wrap off once your color has been marbled and push color out to the edges if necessary.
4. It only takes a couple seconds to dry thanks to the rubbing alcohol. Once dry, you can cut it and stamp it and do what ever you want with it.
We all decided that this would be a good technique for stained glass type stamps...or you could do oranges and yellows at the top and blue at the bottom for an 'ocean' at sunset background. I think it would work well for stamps that have alot of black on them...the ones where very little of your background shows through. This would show through beautifully on something like that too.
Thanks for the great idea Mary!
We did the door prize last this time, and I missed a picture. But, Lynn won the door prize and she won a set of dies for the cuttlebug. Now she just has to go out and get a cuttlebug. We were telling her all the cool things the cuttlebug does, I think she is really excited about it now. :)
The cards are swapped, the food, well...finished...and we all leave with many more good ideas. Until next time ladies...STAY SASSSC. See you in February for Easter cards!

SASSSC Spotlight - All About Lynn!
Lynn's favorite dessert is brownies (but she doesn't eat dessert anymore).
She lives in The Woodlands but was born in Milwaukee, WI
She had 3 brothers (2 have passed away)
She has 1 daughter, 1 step-daughter, 1 step-son, 2 grandaughters, 2 grandsons and one grand-child on the way.
Laura L. introduced her to stamping. She met Laura in a scrapbooking class at Lone Star Scrap.
She has been stamping since she met Laura in 2004.
Why does she like stamping? She made many scrapbooks prior to stamping. She likes the quick end to making cards.
She loves greens and blues when she stamps and loves stamping for ANY occasion
She gets ideas from Stampin up and other magazines.
Her favorite technique, style and/or tool? Embossing and glitter!
She heard about SASSSC from Delia at a card making class at Laura's
What does she like to do when she isn't stamping? Working. She must love her job, I think that's great! She is a corporate travel agent. She can't plan our trips, but I'm sure she does a great job for people at work!
An interesting fact about her...she had gastric bypass surgery in 2002. She has been there and would have good advice for anyone considering such a surgery. She would do it different the second time if she could.
Thanks again Lynn for sharing all this info about yourself. We'll see you soon!

Time To Be SASSSC Again!
Turns out that about 3 of our members were not going to be able to make it on the regularly scheduled week. After emailing back and forth and getting opinions from the majority of the ladies in our group, we are going to reschedule our regular day to Saturday January 24th at our regular time. Was it 9:30?
I apologize for those of you that are out of pocket, who didn't recieve the emails proposing the question of when would be a better meeting time for January...but majority has spoken so we've gone ahead and changed it.
I hope everyone will be able to come and still fulfill assignments. The last SASSSC meeting was so fun because everyone did their part!
Please remember all assignments are listed on the bottom of the SASSSC blog. We are currently making 9 swap cards.
I've had a chance to correspond with Lynn. She is going to be doing our make 'n take this month. She has asked that we all bring our Mono tape along with any embellishements we might want to use for a decorating a Starbucks Coffee-Type Bottle. This could be ribbon, paper, jewels, rub-on's, whatever your heart desires.
I kinda like last time when we all brought embellishments...we shared a little and it almost because a little competitive to see who could make the cutest box. This time looks like we will be doing the same type of thing possibly with a bottle. It will be nice to see what Lynn has planned and what each lady will do with their embellishments. :)
See you SASSSC ladies on the 24th of January!
