November SASSSC Meeting

November's meeting was AWESOME! It felt like a big party! Big thanks go out to Delia for letting us use her house, even though she wasn't there. We really missed Olga and Delia.

Also, big thanks should go out to everyone because all assignments (big and small) were fulfilled. Things went really smoothly.

Here are some pictures of our spread for this month. Laura brought some kolaches and donuts and Lynn brought some Sweet Baked Brie. It was delicious. She was gracious enough to give us all the recipe.

Click here to see this recipe.

I brought supplies for the Mimosa's.

Once we all got there and got our appetites filled and drinks poured, we started on our boxes. I think we all wanted our boxes done before we swapped this time.

In fact, the only cards I really saw before we were done with our SASSSC boxes were Mary's. She was finishing hers as we were all arriving. :) Hee Hee.

We all had fun making ours as individual as possible. Here are a couple pictures of us in creative mode and pictures of everyone's final products.

Thelma had a great tip for us on how to make this quick but elegant pop-up card.

Sweet Baked Brie Recipe

Photobucket

She cut this recipe in half for our club meeting. She also recommends trimming some of the casing of the brie (top and bottom) prior to ading to pastry.

1 - 11x17 sheet of frozen puff pastry (thawed)
1-pound wheel of Brie cheese
2 tablespoons of raspberry jam
1/4 cup sliced almonds toasted
1 egg, beaten with a spash of water
1 box water cracker ( got those at HEB in the wine area)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spread the puff pastry on the counter and roll it to 1/8inch thick. Trim a few inches of the dough off the ends to square it off (save the scraps).

Cut the Brie through the equater into two pieces and place one half on the puff pastry, cut side up. Spread the jam on the cheese and sprinkle the toasted almonds (see below). Replace the other half of the Brie on top.

Wrap the dough up an over the Brie to encase it.

Place on nonstick baking sheet (or use parchment paper), seam side down, Cut designs from the scrap of dough and put on top.

Brush entire thing with the egg wash.

Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

*****Instructions for toasting almonds*****
Toast nuts in a dry skillet over medium-high heat for 6-7 minutes, stiring constantly until golden. Remove from pan immediately as they will continue to cook in a warm pan. Cool completely before adding to cheese.

DON'T FORGET....Time to be SASSSC!

Hey ladies,

Tomorrow is our November SASSSC meeting. A couple things to remember:

  • Mono tape, Glue Sticks and Embellishments you may want to use for our make and take. We are going to be making boxes to transport our swaps to and from the SASSSC meetings. The more SASSSC the better!

  • Also, please look on the bottom of our blog (http://sasssc.blogspot.com/) to make sure you are bringing what you should for your assignment for this month.

  • Please bring your yearly club dues. We forgot to collect those during our initial meeting and we have had new members join since then anyways. The yearly club dues are $24...and...

  • MOST IMPORTANT...bring your swaps. We were making a total of 9 this month. I can't wait to see all the creativity!
Have a good evening and we'll see you tomorrow at 9:30 AM!!!
