Adriana did our technique this month. She showed us 2 new uses for ribbon.
The first is a great way to use up all your extra little peices. With this technique, you actually run your card or cardstock through your Zyron so that the entire surface is sticky and then you adhere all your ribbon pieces and just trim off the extra. She said that she would probably like to find some fray-ease or use some Crystal Effects next time to keep the ribbon from fraying.
Here's a picture of her scrap ribbon card
Here's a picture of the scrap ribbon card from her magazine. It almost appears that they used pinking shears to trim the ribbon at the bottom, what a cute idea.
Here's a picture of a Christmas card that Adriana made for our December 09 Swap using this technique. VERY NICE!
The second idea was to fold some ribbon and adhere it in such a way that it makes a wreath. This is easily embellished with some jewels to make it really stand out. Sorry, the picture doesn't do it justice. If you happen to come across this technique online, please share the link with us. I tried to take a copy of the article out of Adriana's magazine.

October SASSSC Meeting
We had a lot of people missing this time...but that didnt' stop us from having a great time!
Vegas had a good time too...she had a chair all to herself (just kidding...she always likes to sit with someone)
At our meeting we made some books. These aren't just ANY books. These books will house our Techniques for the coming year. The person doing the technique for the month will need to make a card that will fit in our book, what you do is untie your ribbon and thread the technique card in there. Then by the end of the year, we will have alot of GREAT ideas to work from.
Here's Delia showing us how to do it:
Here's a couple pictures of us making our books:
Here are some pictures of our books, I will post more pictures as more of our SASSSC members make theirs.
Laura's (obviously...cause she is in the picture...right?)
Adriana's (she is going to finish at home with some BIG white grommets and 2 ribbons)
Delia's (I love the bright colors on hers)
Annie's
Lynn's
...till next time...stay SASSSC!
OH! And we hope to see more people next month! :)

Fused Cardstock
This month Laura showed us how to do a technique called Fused Cardstock. This Technique allows you to turn any beautiful napkin into cardstock that can be used as background or even stamped on.
This could come in handy for themed invitations (especially for kids) or great for using up those extra napkins you might have laying around from Thanksgiving, Christmas, or other occasions.
1. Take the desired napkin and gently peel off the plain back layer...usually white. Be patient...there ususally is another layer there. Laura ripped the corner of her napkin to help her separate the layers.
2. Put your iron on it's high setting.
3. Make a 'sandwich' in the next couple steps. Laura started with a bunch of book covers. You need something to keep the heat from getting onto your table. Maybe some off colored card stock or newsprint or something.
4. Now lay your pretty napkin pretty side down.
5. Put a layer of standard cling wrap (saran wrap) down on top of your napkin. This will be the 'glue' that holds your napkin to your cardstock.
6. Lastly, put your cardstock on top of the cling wrap.
7. Put your newsprint or old stack of cardstock on top. This is the other side of your heat buffer.
8. Iron the whole thing until the 3 layers are fused. Be careful when peeling up your project that you don't separate the layers.
9. Trim the edges of your cardstock to remove any extra napkin and/or cling wrap and you are ready to use your beautiful new piece of fused cardstock.
Here's a link to Laura's Blog showing examples of her fused (felted) cardstock.
On her blog she includes a link to the Split Coast Stampers instruction page where she learned to do it as well. We need to give these people credit for sure for this GREAT idea! If you don't already have a log on to that site...you should get it...they have great ideas!!!

September SASSSC Meeting
Ok Ladies...we are going to start laying this site out a little differently. There will be more entries each month...but I think it will be much easier to find things when you want to go back and look at old swaps or old techniques.
Picture of the general meeting, make 'n take, door prizes, people and food will all be in one meeting summary blog entry. The technique will have it's own blog entry and the swaps for the month will have their own entry.
After a couple months of doing this you will see the topic tabs on the right side of the blog will grow so that you can search just on those topics you'd like to see.
I'm thinking about going back and doing this for our past year...but this will take time that I don't have right this minute. SO, look for changes.
Now...to the good stuff...our meeting pictures!
My Step-Daughter Melanie visited this time. I had to take her right after SASSSC to try on a choir dress...no time to run home. So she came and watched TV while we met.
Here she is once more...true teen...doesn't like to stand by her Step-Mom. I had to pull her next to me. Trust me...she is not normally camera shy.
Even though Delia wasn't there this time, she had some really pretty flowers on the countertop. They made me think of fall. So, while they don't have anything to do with SASSSC I took a picture for fall color inspiration.
Olga sent our make and take this month. It is a pocket tag card. Very cute!
Here's a picture of the final product.
I also took a picture of the instructions. I'm not sure if you'll be able to see them or not. Let me know...
